Summer vacation 2017 #1

About a year ago.. Sal and Gia started to talk about where to maybe go for summer vacation... This would be our FIRST family vacation with the kids as we wanted to wait until they were old enough to really enjoy it and have some independence... it was also the FIRST vacation Sal and I had taken in 10 years... they decided on the beach... but what beach? They looked into Puerto Rico which I was all for until they had a major outbreak of Zika.. Cancun? That looked good too, but when we looked into the all inclusive's the meals did not seem to work out... here came Santa Barbara and on the 4th of July holiday... I have never been... Sal had been years ago before we met and said he always wanted to go back... so that was the decision... My mother in law was coming for a visit too so we planned it when she would be coming to visit... so it was the 5 of us... Mom M, Gia, and I flew into Santa Barbara and Sal and John drove... Sal and John left on a Friday and drove a few hours and stayed at a hotel and then continued to Santa Barbara Saturday... the three of us flew out Saturday morning.. it could not have been timed more perfect... Gia was so excited as it was her first time on a plane... many pictures are coming in the upcoming posts... we had the best time.. we forgot what vacation felt like and being away and it was great for Sal and I to get some time alone being Mom M was with us... The 4th of July fireworks on the beach were the best I have ever seen... fishing at night off the pier, shopping on State Street, the beautiful Wharf and beach, sandcastles and shell collecting, the Fish Market, outdoor concerts, fantastic weather on and on I can go.. it was so memorable for all of us and so thankful we were all in good health to go. We stayed at a townhouse about a block from the beach so we walked everywhere. We will be back Santa Barbara!!! We will be back!!!
