B17 Sentimental Journey
What a great night we had!! It was our 4th year going to the WW2 dance and it is always a blast.. now we see people every year that we met the year before and it is just so fun. The absolute best part is to meet the veterans. It is such an honor and to hear their stories and then watch them swing dance at the age they are, is priceless!! This year the C47 was parked away from the dance in a private area. A man who works and flies it came up to us and asked us if we wanted to go see it and get in it. It was awesome and the man asked us this because Sal was dressed as a paratrooper who jumped out of that plane in WW2 on D Day. It was super cool to go inside.... Then we met a man Mike who is on crew for the B17 and said to bring my students down so they can go inside!! I almost fell over as this is the special curriculum I have been teaching all year! Must make this happen because when we went to Pima Air and Space Museum my students could not go in the B17 due to Air Force regulations.. but now... whole different story at Falcon Field!! It was just a beautiful night especially to spend with my soldier :)  we do not get out alone often at all so being together on such a beautiful night with priceless warriors who saved the world is a night we will always remember. Most of the vets we met from WW2 are in their 90's , we just hope when next year's dance rolls around we get the privilege to be in their company again.
